About McGarry

Stephen McGarry

President & CEO, McGarry Consulting Group, LLC

Stephen McGarry designs, sells, and supports complex carrier networks for small & enterprise businesses which includes Managed WAN, Security, Cloud and Hosted VoIP services. He provides a consultative approach making sure to meet and exceed his customers goals by eliminating the gaps that often exist between a customer's expectations and the realization of what they actually get.

McGarry has 37 years in the Telephony & Data industry, and he brings integrity and a strong work ethic to everything he does. Once he understands the needs of a customer, he brings the best carriers with the best services to the table, and let’s them compete for the business.

Steve is a father of 4, a grandfather of 5 beautiful children who he adores. He is also blessed to be married to a woman who guides and supports him for almost 40 years. He is a proud alum of Mt. Carmel High School (Chicago, IL) and North Central College (Naperville, IL) and is a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

Navigating through the Data & Telecom marketplace can feel like you’re traveling through the wilderness without a compass.

That’s not hyperbole—there are over 1,001 providers in the United States alone. All of them come with different policies, price points, philosophies, coverage, security features, network configurations. And the landscape keeps changing, consolidating, and growing.

People looking for the right telecom provider shouldn’t have to feel like they’re starting a journey of a thousand miles into an unfriendly, or at least unknown, wilderness, with no guide.

That’s where I fit in.

I’m a seasoned veteran of this industry. For over forty years, I’ve provided telecommunications and data services to businesses, and I’ve seen the whole landscape. If I’ve learned anything in close to half a century of doing this, it’s this: you never know what’s going to come at you next. Every project is a new challenge, and the best skill you can have, whether you’re a provider, a consultant, or a client, is adaptability.

It’s a skill I’ve honed while getting into the weeds and fighting for my customers. The way I see it, I have Three Primary Jobs.

The First is to collect your information (pain points, needs, and operational infrastructure) and then bring the providers that best fit your needs, and then let them compete for your business.

The Second, after you’ve selected the provider, is to be your advocate and hold that provider accountable for what they say and do.

The Third is to keep my customer happy with the goal of becoming a valued part of their IT team.

Today’s Service Industries lack Accessibility, Responsiveness and Personalized Service. They use email, voice messaging and automated customer service prompts that frustrate all of us. Trying to engage the contacts that sold you the service is futile. When you work with McGarry Consulting, you get the personal attention directly from me.
